Fellowship vs Internship are both types of educational work experiences that an employer offers. Although the two types of programs have slightly different exact structures, they are fundamentally similar.

An employer may offer an internship to undergraduate or graduate students who they believe have the potential to become workers. To finish their degree programs, several colleges require their students to intern.

A student, also known as an intern, works in the office alongside other staff members and learns how to carry out the anticipated tasks.

Both work on providing young people with helpful experience in a specific sector. Participants enter the program knowing how long it will last and what to expect in terms of commitment and reward.

While fellowships have a more scholarly undertone, Fellowships often focus on completing a project that will help participants excel in their respective industries and include less daily structure.

While internships are open to students at any college level or in high school, fellowships may only be available to those who have completed a certain degree of education. Most fellowships call for a bachelor’s degree, while some may also ask for a master’s or doctoral degree.

Unpaid internships are also possible. Hourly pay is the norm for paid internships, much like for permanent employees. In some cases, unpaid internships offer college credits rather than cash payments.

Applications for internships and fellowships must include a CV, transcripts, an interview, and frequent recommendations. Each applicant for a fellowship must submit a proposal outlining the fellowship’s scope and research objectives. Writing examples may also be required from fellows. It is well known that applying for a fellowship is extremely difficult and highly selective.
